New Zealand Education and Putera Sampoerna Foundation provide a full scholarship package to 3 (three) young Indonesian who demonstrates excellent academic achievement, good character and leadership qualities to pursue undergraduate studies at a university which New Zealand Education and Putera Sampoerna Foundation recommend for a maximum duration of 3 (three) years.
The mandatory programs for NZ Education - PSF Undergraduate scholars include Annual Gathering, Social Activities, and Internship.
* Annual Gathering
Putera Sampoerna Foundation's Annual Gathering aims to give the scholars an opportunity to obtain a better understanding of the Foundation’s values, to develop scholars’ character, leadership qualities and social awareness, and promote a sense of community and fellowship among them.
* Social Activities
Putera Sampoerna Foundation requires the scholars to organize and conduct social activities in their respective regions.
* Internship
Each scholar will have to do internship program during his/her study. The Foundation hopes by having this experience, Putera Sampoerna Foundation scholars will be able to increase their value and be successful in their future career.
CONDITIONS OF AWARD
The information contained in this document is intended for the NZ Education - PSF Undergraduate Scholarship Program, pertinent to the 2009 intake only.
I. Basic Eligibility
Applicant must satisfy ALL of the following conditions:
* Applicant must be an Indonesian citizen.
* Applicant study in the 3rd semester at one of Sampoerna Foundation fellow affiliated public universities.
* Have excellent academic record with the last GPA is minimum 3.00 out of 4.00
* Meet the requirements of entry into an undergraduate degree programme at a New Zealand university.
* Have a valid (within 2 years) English Language proficiency test scores of:
o IELTS Academic Test with an overall score of at least 6.0 with no band less than 5.5, or
o TOEFL test score of at least 575, including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English, or
o Computer based TOEFL with score of at least 213, including 4.0 in Essay Writing, or
o Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - Grade B; Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) - Grade C.
II. Further Requirements
* Applicant must be willing to attend the selection process conducted by Putera Sampoerna Foundation.
* Scholarship recipient must be willing to reside and work in Indonesia for 3 (three) consecutive years upon completion of study to contribute the skills and knowledge gained for the development of Indonesia.
* Scholarship recipient must be willing to participate in the Alumni Contribution Scheme, as described in respective section of this General Information, and in any other mandatory programs and activities as described herein or in the future.
* Applicant must be willing to comply with the application for scholarship rules and regulations as stipulated by Putera Sampoerna Foundation
* Applicant must demonstrate interest in and commitment to community and national development
III. Nature of award
a. The full scholarship covers the following:
* Tuition fees (for up to 3 consecutive years or until completion study, whichever comes first).
* Living allowance.
* Medical Insurance.
* Text Book Allowance.
* Return airfare (1 return airfare per year).
* Fiscal and airport tax.
* Visa Application and the required Medical Examination.
* TOEFL/IELTS reimbursement for one test only. The result of TOEFL/IELTS should be within the valid period.
b. The scholarship is intended for regular class study only. Executive / extension class are not allowed. The following courses are not eligible for funding under the NZ Education- PSF Undergraduate Scholarship:
* Aviation
* Dental Surgery
* Medicine
* Optometry
* Veterinary Science
c. Scholarship recipient is not permitted to undertake any form of full-time employment at any time during the course of study.
IV. Funding Disbursement
* Tuition fees will be disbursed directly to the university based on actual cost.
* Other funding will be disbursed to scholarship recipient on a semester basis, and will be granted subjected to the scholar’s satisfactory academic performance in the previous semester.
V. Duration of award
* The scholarship is provided for a maximum of 3 (three) years or equivalent to 6 (six) academic semesters or less, depending on the selected program. No extension will be granted.
* If the scholarship recipient fails to complete his/her study within the allocated timeframe, he/she is still entitled to continue the study. However, Putera Sampoerna Foundation is not obliged to provide any further financial or other support.
* Continuation of scholarship is subjected to the scholarship recipient’s satisfactory academic and non-academic progress.
VI. Leave Entitlements
* Scholarship recipient is not entitled to take any break from study other than term or semester breaks scheduled by the university.
* If, under certain extraordinary conditions, the scholarship recipient must take a leave from university for reasons other than the above, they must obtain prior written approval from the university and written approval from Putera Sampoerna Foundation.
VII. Employment
There is no obligation for the scholarship recipient or Putera Sampoerna Foundation to engage in any form of future employment. Putera Sampoerna Foundation does not oblige scholarship recipients to work for Putera Sampoerna Foundation and its affiliates or supporting organizations.
VIII. Penalties
* Putera Sampoerna Foundation will impose penalties for non-compliance with scholarship conditions, including but not exclusive to academic performance and participation in mandatory activities. Penalties may be in the form of suspension of scholarship funding, reduction in duration of scholarship or termination of scholarship funding.
* Should the scholarship recipient decide to withdraw from the scholarship scheme, any funds already disbursed by Putera Sampoerna Foundation as part of scholarship coverage must be fully repaid by the scholarship recipient
IX. Termination
a. The scholarship will cease when a recipient is no longer enrolled as a student:
* When the university issues an academic record (transcript) indicating the completion of study; or ,
* When the recipient is forced to withdraw or cannot continue his/her studies due to illness or any other reason.
b. The scholarship will be immediately terminated if:
* The scholarship recipient fails to fulfil his/her obligations, or fails to meet the required academic performance level; or,
* The scholarship recipient proves to have forged information in his/her application form or any of the documents attached therein; or,
* The scholarship recipient is dismissed from the study program or expelled from the university for any reason; or,
* The scholarship recipient is involved in any illegal activities e.g. drug abuse and trafficking or any other form of criminal activities.
X. Other Tasks and Obligations
* The scholarship recipient must be willing to act in accordance with Putera Sampoerna Foundation’s rules and regulations, as well as those of the university.
* The scholarship recipient must be willing to attend and participate in the Putera Sampoerna Foundation Annual Gathering.
* The scholarship recipient must actively participate in personal development programs designed by Putera Sampoerna Foundation, such as:
o Social activities.
o Orientation Program, which will help the scholarship recipient to have better understanding of Putera Sampoerna Foundation’s vision and mission.
* Scholarship recipient must actively participate in professional development programs designed by Putera Sampoerna Foundation, such as:
o Scholars Internship Program, which will allow the scholarship recipient to utilize his/her semester break, in the third and fourth years of study to be able to apply newly gained knowledge and skills in a professional working environment. Putera Sampoerna Foundation will continue to support the living costs during the semester break period.
o Any other professional development programs which may be coordinated by Putera Sampoerna Foundation in the future.
* During the study program, the scholarship recipient is expected to maintain regular correspondence with Putera Sampoerna Foundation to report his/her academic and non-academic progress.
* After successful completion of the program, the scholarship recipient is expected to join Putera Sampoerna Foundation Alumni Association and participate in its
programs and activities.
XI. Alumni Contribution Scheme
As a scholarship, you will have an opportunity to enjoy better education. What better way to extend the same opportunity to other deserving scholars in our future generation? What better way to strengthen our “community”, however you define it? What better way to apply the principles of good will, fellowship and scholarship? The way? After graduation, you will be an active part of the Putera Sampoerna Foundation community, as a part of this community; you will communicate and cooperate among yourselves to keep the dream alive. Together, you and your colleagues will help ensure that sufficient funding can provide scholarship for individuals such as yourself in the next generation. Each Putera Sampoerna Foundation scholarship recipient is expected to contribute on
monthly basis 5% (five percent) of his/her total net salary / income, whichever is lower, for 25 (twenty five) years after he/she graduates. The alumni contribution scheme will apply starting from 6 (six) months after he/she graduates. Alumni are also encouraged to perform fund-raising activities – individually or collectively – to contribute to the fund.
XII. General Procedures
