Description :
A post-doctoral position is available in the group of Valérie Allamand, Ph.D., to characterize
the muscle phenotype and evaluate therapeutic approaches in a novel animal model for
Collagen type VI-related myopathies.
The position will be available for 1 year, renewable.
The approaches used consist of classical histology techniques, immunohistochemistry,
molecular biology, biochemistry. Therapeutic strategies will be evaluated in vivo in skeletal
muscle and ex vivo in cultured cells.
Unit 974 “Therapies of the disorders of striated muscle” is part of the Myology Institute,
located within Pitié-Salpetriere Hospital. The laboratory is affiliated to Pierre & Marie Curie
Paris University (Paris 6, UPMC) and CNRS, and offers a highly interactive and international
research environment with state-of-the-art core facilities.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a PhD in physiology or biology and previous postdoctoral
experience in muscle physiology and/or mouse models, as well as a good
background in standard cellular biology techniques.

Activités essentielles:
1) Evaluation du phénotype musculaire par analyses histologiques, immunohistochimiques,
et biochimiques
2) Evaluation d’approches thérapeutiques in vivo dans le muscle squelettique et ex vivo dans
des cultures cellulaires
- DIPLOME OU NIVEAU D’ETUDES

- 1 ou 2 ans de premier post-doctorat
- CONNAISSANCES
- Physiologie du muscle
- Expérimentation animale
- Culture cellulaire (souhaitable)
- Bonne maîtrise de l’anglais lu, écrit, parlé
- COMPETENCES
Dans les domaines suivants: expérimentation animale (anesthésie des animaux, prélevement
et conditionnement de tissu musculaire...), histologie/immunohistologie, biochimie, culture
cellulaire.

Le groupe de Valérie Allamand, composé de 4 personnes, est intégré dans l’équipe de Gisele
Bonne au sein de l’Unité « Thérapie des Maladies du Muscle Strié » UMRS 974 dont la
direction est assurée par Thomas Voit. Cette Unité est elle-meme rattachée a l’Institut de
Myologie, centre d'expertise dédié au muscle, sa physiologie, ses maladies, son
vieillissement.
