The University of Trento (Italy), the RWTH Aachen University (Germany), and the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) offer a two year (120 ECTS credits) Joint Master’s Programme, named European Master in Informatics (EuMI). The objective of the Master’s Programme is to educate professionals who will understand advanced techniques, tools, and methodologies in the field of Computer Science, and who will be able to put this knowledge to practice in the key application domains of Net-Centric/Media Informatics, Life Science Informatics, and Embedded Systems Informatics. The Programme will admit a maximum number of 50 students for the academic year 2009/2010.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA
Students are accepted in the program regardless of sex, age, or nationality. A student to be accepted must fulfil the following requirements:
A first level (at least three years) degree in Computer Science or closely-related discipline, awarded by an internationally recognised university-level institution.
Students who have not yet completed their first degree, but expect to graduate before July 31st,2009 can apply provided that they will obtain the degree and supply the EuMI secretariat with a degree certificate by July 31st 2009.
Fluent written and spoken English knowledge, certified by either IELTS, TOEFL, or CAE (not older than 2007).
Minimum requirements:

The ONLY exempted applicants from submitting official language certificate are Nationals and/or first-degree-holders of: Antigua&Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas (The -), Barbados, Belize, Canada (English-speaking -), Gambia (The -), Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland (Republic of -) , Jamaica, Kiribati, Liberia, Mauritius, Micronesia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Trinidad&Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
Students will be selected according to the following criteria:

SCHOLARSHIPS
For the academic year 2009/10, up to 15 scholarships will be offered to students who are residents of countries outside the European Union, the European Economic Area / European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway). The amount of each scholarship will be up to € 21.000 per year. The exact number of scholarships and scholarship amount will be communicated at the completion of the selection procedure (end of February).
These scholarships are funded by the European Commission within the Erasmus Mundus programme and will be assigned according to the requirements and constraints of this programme, as set out by the Erasmus Mundus programme (http://europa.eu.int/comm/education/programmes/mundus/index_en.html).
These constraints include (but are not limited to): reserved number of scholarships for specific countries, no residency in EU, limitations regarding previous recent stays in EU, no previous enrolment in other European Master. Additional scholarships and tuition waivers, both for non-EU and EU students, may become available depending on institutional funding available at the time of selection.

HOW TO APPLY
The application requires two steps:
on-line application (due by January 18th, 2009) and
hard-copy submission of documents (due by January 31th, 2009).
Applicants will be notified about the admission decision and whether they will be offered a scholarship by March 10th, 2009. The formal confirmation of the scholarship will be given by May 31st, 2009 after the approval of the Erasmus Mundus scholarships by the European Commission.

Applicants will be required to fill out the on-line forms and to provide the following documents in electronic format:
A copy of the applicant's identity card or passport
A copy of the IELTS, TOEFL, or CAE certificate (not older than 2007).
A copy of all academic degree certificates, i.e. Bachelor or equivalent, Master or equivalent, or other postgraduate degrees/academic qualifications.
A translation of the degree certificates, made by an officially recognised translator in English, ONLY in case the original documents are not written in English, German, or Italian.
Copies of all transcripts or other academic records that give proof of the higher education studies presented in Attachment 3 (i.e. Bachelors, Masters etc. ) including credits and grades achieved in each single subject.
A translation of the transcripts and records made by an officially recognized translator in English, ONLY in case the original documents in Attachment 5 are not written in English, German, or Italian.
Applicants must send a hard copy of the following documents by January 31th, 2009:

A photocopy of the applicant's identity card or passport
